Last week, we learnt how to tell the time.
First we made a whole class clock.
Then we made clocks as a group, making sure we got the numbers in the right place and order.
Finally, we were ready to make our own clocks.
We used them to show o'clock and half past.
What time do you come to school?
What time do you eat lunch?
What time do you go to bed?

On Friday, we were very busy cooking and baking.
In the morning, we worked with a partner to help us chop up vegetables for our turnip and onion soup. Then we took it in turns to see how the soup was being made and watched it simmer.
When we weren't cooking, we were thinking of new recipes and filming our method so we can improve next time.
In the afternoon, we baked bread just like the little red hen. We were lucky because we all helped each other. We had so much fun mixing, kneading and shaping the dough.
At the end of the day, we had a very tasty snack and a rest!
What did you enjoy about Friday's baking and cooking?
Did you like the soup or the bread best?
Do you cook at home?

This week we learnt all about grains. Now we know where they come from and what we use them for.
They come in all different colours so we used them to create a chicken collage.
Our teachers tried to trick us by putting some fake grains into our mix.
Can you spot them?
Look at what a great job we did at carefully creating patterns. We're so proud of our chickens.
Can you name some grains?
Which grains do you eat at home?

Our topic this term is 'The Little Red Hen'.
Today we sequenced the events of the story and made a story mountain.
We were able to use the story mountain to re-tell the story to each other.
Then we looked at another group's story mountain.
We all had different versions of the story so we had to spot the differences.
Do you know the story of The Little Red Hen?
What characters are in the story?
Would you share the bread with the other animals if you were the hen?

This week in science Year 2 have been exploring what makes a healthy diet. They have been using ipads in the dinning room to photograph their lunch and then reflect on what makes it healthy.
Here are two photographs of Year 2 lunches.
Which lunch would you prefer and why?
What healthy choices has each child made?
What else would you like to be included in the lunches?

This week in maths we have been measuring. Today we focused on measuring capacity. We looked carefully at how many milliliters or litres were either in a measuring jug, measuring cylinder or plastic bottle.
If I had 100ml in a container, but I poured out 23ml. How many ml would I have left?
